Arch has a full-time opportunity in our Construction and Alternative Markets divisions, located in St. Paul.  Additional support is provided to National Accounts, Lenders, Healthcare and Programs.  This position encompasses all aspects of the credit underwriting process including financial statement analysis on small, medium and large private and public companies in a broad set of industry segments with particular emphasis on construction, transportation and large franchises, statement spreading and the preparation of credit write-ups to help manage the credit risk portfolio in order to determine collateralization need.  

Responsibilities

  • Complete evaluations and reviews of existing and potential clients’ financial condition and credit worthiness and assign an appropriate financial rating.
  • Complete evaluations and reviews of existing trusts accounts of existing and past clients.
  • Conduct industry and market research and competitive landscape analysis.
  • Review and monitor economic, marketplace, accounting and collateral trends – especially as they relate to Arch’s target industries.
  • Act as a liaison with Treasury and Corporate Accounting and Finance as relates to collateral, credit, billing and accounting type of issues.
  • Assist underwriters in analyzing and understanding complex financial statements as well as provide insights and guidance to underwriters regarding specific client attributes and challenges.
  • Participate in calls and meetings with CFO’s of prospective and current clients.
  • Analyze complex captive insurance program structures and related credit and collection risk.
  • Assist in communications with legal by providing recommendations on how entity names should be included on legal documents.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have the ability to analyze and interpret business financial statements and tax returns. Candidates should possess initiative, judgment and strong analytical skills. Experience with cash flow analysis software is desirable; experience in a credit role is preferred but not required.  

 

  • B.S. Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration or higher.
  • Financial analysis, quantitative, conceptual, risk assessment, and analytic experience and skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound problem solving skills, including the ability to identify obstacles or issues and work independently as well as in a team environment to develop and propose solutions.
  • Ability to organize and present various credit topics and analysis in a clear and concise manner (written and verbal).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products, in particular proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Prior experience with Moody’s Risk Analyst or other analytical software is a plus.
