Overview

 Arch MI is actively seeking a Payroll Specialist to join a fast-paced, deadline-driven finance team responsible for paying exempt and non-exempt employees across 40+ states. The right candidate will have a professional demeanor, a can-do attitude, and the ability to react quickly and accurately in a detail-oriented environment. A commitment to flexibility, confidentiality, and customer service is essential as the Payroll Specialist is the primary contact for various internal stakeholders regarding sensitive payroll matters. We are seeking a person with strong technical expertise in using various systems and software including ADP enterprise products, ADP eTime, and MS Excel. We prefer candidates with solid quantitative skills as this role is responsible for various calculations and reconciliations on a pay-period, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. The ideal person will be a highly motivated key contributor to the Payroll Department and possess a strong drive to meet/exceed goals related to the Arch MI payroll function. This position is located in our Greensboro, North Carolina office.

Responsibilities

    • Performs all pay period payroll functions related to analysis, input, and reconciliation of time keeping, new hires, terminations, salary changes, promotions, manual checks, deductions and bonus payouts.
    • Primary contact for day-to-day employee questions and issues regarding payroll matters including timekeeping and paychecks.
    • Responsible for reconciling and funding pay period 401(k) plan and HSA employee and employer contributions.
    • Processes/confirms employee federal, state and local tax set-up, direct deposit information, voluntary employee benefit contributions, mandated garnishments, and other deductions are accurately maintained in the payroll system.
    • Supports required periodic reconciliations of all payroll tax liabilities paid by the employer and the third party payroll tax administrator, employer and employee 401(k) plan contributions, employer pension contributions, employer granted stock transactions, and employee stock purchase plan status and contributions.
    • Supports all year-end payroll activities including reconciliation and distribution of employee W-2s.
    • Keeps current on changes to federal, state, and local payroll related laws and regulations.
    • Participates in improvements, upgrades, and testing of payroll and time tracking systems and works on other special projects as necessary.
 
 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Required knowledge and skills would typically be acquired through 2 - 4 years related payroll work experience in a corporate environment. Bachelors degree and/or a payroll certification is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of payroll and time tracking systems preferably ADP Enterprise (EV5) and ADP eTime (v8).
  • Working knowledge of multi-state practices and laws pertaining to payroll tax, wage and hour laws.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • Problem solving and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline driven environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS office products with heavy emphasis on manipulating and analyzing data in MS Excel.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interface with and influence internal/external contacts.
