The MI Operations Specialist supports ArchMIConnectSM and provides quality customer service to clients through knowledge of Arch MI underwriting programs, policies and procedures. The incumbent administers various products in compliance with Arch MI requirements. The incumbent monitors and analyzes quality trends of submissions and recommends changes to Arch MI underwriting guidelines, and provides support to EDI channels.

  1. Reviews and resolves customer requests and pended items in Support Desk Mailbox (including ArchMIConnect user administration customer support).
  2. Makes exceptions regarding programs that fall outside of the normal Arch MI policies and procedural guidelines in order to satisfy company and customer expectations, when appropriate.
  3. Analyzes pended loans to determine whether pre-approved program variations would apply and make exception to process delegated application request.
  4. Supports sales, underwriting, and customers regarding general problem solving of issues, understanding program guidelines, providing procedures for loan submission, and recommending opportunities for customers.
  5. Answers all MI Ops and ArchMIConnect lines through the FCRA line. First in line to answer Chat. Also acts as backup for the Underwriting Support FCRA line.
  6. Supports management by auditing Underwriting Support staff registrations.
  7. Provides back-up support to Underwriting Support staff to register non-delegated files, when needed.
  8. Analyzes and interprets general business correspondence, professional journals, periodicals and technical procedures. Makes recommendations to management regarding changes to minimize loss.
  9. Identifies and reports system errors in a timely manner and performs follow-up on system enhancement.
  10. Keeps abreast of First Lien Master Policy, endorsements, various marketing materials, individual program guidelines, and approved program variations for specific lenders.
  11. Runs ad hoc and monthly reports as requested by management.
  12. Performs other tasks and special projects as required and assigned by management.





Knowledge & Skills:

  1. Strong knowledge of systems related to mortgage insurance and underwriting such as ArchMIConnect, OPUS,, and managing multiple departmental email inboxes.
  2. Extensive knowledge of underwriting programs and guidelines.
  3. General knowledge of the mortgage banking industry including an understanding of loan/credit risk factors.
  4. Good written and oral communication skills to exchange work-related information.
  5. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  6. Strong customer service orientation with the ability to develop and maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally (with all levels within the organization) and externally.
  8. Good organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments and be adaptable to changing priorities.
  9. Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
  10. Must be able to work 10:30am to 7:00pm EST.


Education & Experience: 


Required knowledge and skills would typically be acquired through a high school diploma and 2-3 years related experience in mortgage lending or loan processing.
