    The Position

    Surety Claims Examiner will responsible for the investigation, evaluation, and resolution of all types of surety bond claims within the Surety Claims Department to ensure that the handling of surety bond claims are managed in accordance with best claims practices.



    Job Responsibilities


    • Investigate, analyze, negotiate, and resolve claims made on commercial and contract bonds.
    • Develop and execute strategic action plans to mitigate bond claim loss exposures. • Establish accurate reserves for the resolution and settlement of claims within the Surety Claim Systems.
    • Proactively manage and evaluate outside vendors to ensure that services provided meet guidelines and expectations.
    • Actively collaborate and coordinate with Surety Underwriters on existing and emerging claim matters and provide subject matter expertise on indemnity and legal matters
    • Attend, represent, and make presentations at surety industry functions.
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with Corporate Audit and SOX policies and procedures.





    Required Education/Experience 

    • Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate required
    • Preferred minimum of 2 years of construction law practice or in-house experience handling surety claims
    • Ability and Flexibility for business travel
