    We are seeking a candidate for a Financial Analyst position within the Corporate Finance department.  This individual will be responsible for numerous activities within the department as well as have opportunities to liaise with various Business Units.

     

    This role will offer broad exposure to the finance department functions and the opportunity to learn about the Company's various operations. This individual will have a high level of interaction with operating executives, officers, and other members of the finance teams throughout the organization.  This role is based in Jersey City, NJ.  The ideal candidate has strong written and oral communication skills, an analytical mindset, and the ability to multitask in order to effectively manage his or her time across various roles and responsibilities. 

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with various monthly and quarterly close financial reporting requirements.
    • Compile quarterly expense reports and analysis for Senior Executives and Department leaders.
    • Participate in the annual budget process with an emphasis on expense reporting and analysis.
    • Help redesign and/or simplify various processes within the team.
    • Provide support on special projects and ad hoc reporting as required by the department or other business departments.
    • Work collaboratively and develop strong relationships with Business Units, operational executives, and managers.
    • Display teamwork, integrity and leadership.
    • Maintain adequate focus on personal growth; proactively seek relevant education and training. 

    Qualifications

    Desired Skills

    • Strong desire to facilitate change, add value and succeed as a member of the Corporate Finance team.
    • Ability to "think outside the box" and evaluate processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and robust analytical skills.
    • Formal knowledge of financial statements and ability to interpret relationships within financial results.
    • Some knowledge of property and casualty insurance operations is a plus.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.
    • Exceptional work ethic, integrity and ability to work autonomously while effectively managing expectations.
    • Inclination to adapt to new circumstances, information, and challenges, with a positive "can do" attitude.
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to use complex formulas to manipulate large volume of data.
    • Experience with Cognos and Tm1 are a plus.

    Required Education/Experience 

    • Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance. 
    • 1+ years of accounting or finance experience, preferably with a property/casualty insurance organization is a plus. Motivated candidates without industry experience will be considered.
