  • Overview

    The Procurement and Accounting Operations Specialist is responsible for identifying and improving areas within the operational processes of the Controller’s group. He/she will be responsible for maintaining vendor relations and coordinating the bid process for general corporate expenditures.

    1. Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms and pricing, as well as correct discrepancies in billing.
    2. Documentation and continuous updating of accounting operations processes.
    3. Oversee the administration of, the web-based online requisition and purchasing application.
    4. Chart value stream models for identification of improvement projects.
    5. Facilitate teams to incorporate lean management concepts in day to day operations.
    6. Build controls around vendor AP database and continuous monitoring through vendor approval responsibilities.
    7. Lead ERP system upgrade testing and new functionality training for end users.
    8. Creation of journal vouchers for Accounting.
    9. Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by management.





    Knowledge & Skills:

    1. Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
    2. Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office applications.
    3. Proven history in negotiations and networking with external vendors and internal customers.
    4. Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles.
    5. Knowledge of lean management mapping techniques such as value stream modeling.
    6. Highly developed knowledge of ERP systems such as PeopleSoft.
    7. Strong communication and leadership skills to deal effectively with intra-departmental contacts.
    8. Independent decision making skills.


    Education & Experience:


    Required knowledge and skills would typically be acquired through a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting. Experience as a procurement agent of a minimum of 4 years. Certification in lean management concepts a plus.
