    Responsibilities

    The Position

    The Underwriter is responsible for the submission generation, underwriting and policy issuance of Directors and Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Hedge Fund Liability, Bankers Professional Liability, Insurance Company Professional Liability, Fiduciary Liability, and Fidelity insurance for entities that meet the Financial Institutions/Financial Services account definition within the East Region.

      

    In addition to the underwriting responsibilities above, the Underwriter is expected to coach and develop all direct and indirect reports in the region.  The areas of coaching and development include underwriting/technical skills, producer management and sales effectiveness.

     

    The Financial Institutions/Financial Services department works with private and public companies, including many Fortune 500 firms.  Accounts include the following subcategories:

    • Underwrite and price products, to include:
    • Financial analysis
    • Exposure analysis
    • Attendance at meetings with outside company management
    • Policy contract review and rating
    • Claims review
    • Binding of new and renewal accounts according to our underwriting philosophy and strategy
    • Service brokers and customers
    • -Coaching and developing the more junior underwriters in the region

     

     

    Qualifications

    Required Education/Experience 

    • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Economics, Business, Finance or Accounting
    • 2 to 5 years of D&O/E&O insurance underwriting, preferably in the Financial Institutions/Financial Services segment
