  • Overview

    The Head of IT plans and implements strategic and tactical technology solutions that support Arch MI’s business strategy. The incumbent oversees MI platform system development as well as both platform and corporate computing infrastructure which includes End User services. The incumbent shall be the primary individual responsible for maintaining, enhancing and securing value of Arch MI’s MI Platform for business growth and operations.

    Responsibilities

    1. Lead a multi-location matrixed IT workforce of 200 plus full time employees and contractors.
    2. Adopt and implement Corporate IT technology and Security standards and guidelines to maintain necessary controls, oversight, and documentation of processes & procedures.
    3. Drive key technology initiatives in support of the achievement of business goals, while ensuring stable and predictable day-to-day IT operations.
    4. Leverage and partner with the Corporate IT (Data Center & Infrastructure Services) to deliver business systems.
    5. Regularly meet with key stakeholders to ensure business needs and emerging trends are planned for and met.
    6. Directs the maintenance of the IT infrastructure and develop plans to evolve infrastructure in a manner consistent with business strategy. 
    7. Utilize understanding of relevant technologies and awareness to broad trends within mortgage insurance industry to identify opportunities for improving effectiveness & efficiency in the Arch MI platform that deliver optimal customer value and service to customers.
    8. Oversee relationships with key vendors, evaluating new providers as needed.
    9. Chair the IT Steering Committee responsible for planning, funding, and reporting on strategic initiatives.
    10. Measure IT performance and regularly report on all dimensions at IT Governance Committee.
    11. Responsible for the development and annual maintenance of a firm-wide annual IT Strategy utilizing roadmaps & business plans.
    12. Lead resolution of complex issues in response to major outages and incidents while restoring service rapidly.
    13. Retain and motivate staff to accomplish results through training & development, performance management and rewards & recognition.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge and Skills:

    1. Substantial breadth of knowledge of the information technology/systems field.
    2. Well versed in Agile methodologies and DevOps.
    3. Strong understanding modern methods of ITSM and SDLC
    4. Satisfactory understanding of the business.
    5. Strong communication, interpersonal & leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate large IT function.
    6. Effective collaboration skills across multiple disciplines.
    7. Demonstrated ability to manage multi-million dollar IT platform.
    8. Good negotiation skills to effectively reach agreement with vendors and internal counterparts.

     

    Education & Experience:

    Required knowledge and skills would typically be acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in science or technology or related field plus 15+ years of relevant, progressive experience.  7-10 years of management experience in similar roles required.
