  • The Position

    We are seeking a candidate for an Assistant Vice President of Financial Modeling within our Corporate Accounting team.  This individual will have a broad range of responsibilities in our finance group as well as exposure across the organization, including internationally. The role will primarily be focused on M&A analysis and support, peer analysis for the insurance segment management team, capital modeling for US insurance entities, and special projects and assistance across wider corporate finance functions as needed.

    This role offers the opportunity to learn about the Company's insurance segment operations and provide insight into how the business is managed and our competitive position. This individual will have a high degree of interaction with operating executives, officers, and other members of the finance teams throughout the organization.  The ideal candidate has strong written and oral communication skills, an analytical mindset, and the ability to multitask in order to effectively manage his or her time across various roles and responsibilities.   

    Job Responsibilities

    • Modeling of financial valuations and returns for potential M&A targets in the US and internationally across the Insurance Segment
    • Due diligence preparation and review for potential M&A targets
    • Standardization and continuous improvements of valuation models
    • Review competitor financial statements, investor presentations and publications to provide insight into industry trends
    • In depth analysis into selected peers to understand specific company issues and initiatives
    • Develop aspirational peer analysis to identify ideas for further exploration
    • Perform risk based capital modeling and suggest improvements for optimization
    • Assist with specific issues, initiatives or projects as needed by management team
    • Support other corporate finance work streams such as budget & planning, quarter close, etc.
    • Cross train on other functions within the corporate finance group to be able to assist as needed
    • Continuously promote efficiency, including standardizing practices across geographies and teams
    • Work collaboratively and develop strong relationships with other teams (Financial Reporting, Actuarial, Business units, IT, etc.)
    • Display teamwork, integrity and leadership 
    • Maintain adequate focus on personal growth; proactively seek relevant education and training

    • Formal knowledge of financial statements, including balance sheet and income statement, and ability to interpret relationships within financial results

    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook


    Required Education/Experience 

    • Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance 
    • Prior insurance accounting knowledge (minimum 5 years) and a working knowledge of the Property & Casualty insurance market
    • Some prior M&A experience preferred
