    Responsibilities

    The Position

    The Senior Desktop Engineer is responsible for providing an advanced level of technical expertise in the design, central management, and support of a comprehensive desktop environment of 1000+ enterprise workstations. This includes Project Management, design, implementation and support of published applications, software distribution infrastructure, and security of the desktop platform. This person provides our highest level of technical support in our Desktop environment, taking the necessary steps to isolate, diagnose, research, and resolve issues. Travel up to 25% may be required.

     

    Job Responsibilities

    • Isolate, diagnose, and resolve application and operating system issues for desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, mobile devices
    • Develop processes and procedures related to PC lifecycle management including procurement, break/fix support, disposal, and asset tracking
    • Execute, document, and maintain desktop security standards in line with IT security policies through GPO and other security tools
    • Manage enterprise PC inventory utilizing SCCM hardware discovery
    • Gather details about OS Service Pack levels, PC model specs, and hardware/driver specific information and provide asset reporting to Management as required, showing full inventory across the enterprise
    • Create, test, and execute distribution pushes to support enterprise applications
    • Provide second and third level desktop support to end-users 
    • Serve as an escalation point for the Service Desk and Desktop Support Teams
    • Manage software licensing, packaging, testing, and deployment to enterprise workstations
    • Ensure technologies work across different networks
    • Administer and manage McAfee Client Proxy
    • Manage SCCM 2012 infrastructure and related client systems
    • Create standardized desktop images for physical and virtual desktops including applications and supporting services using SCCM 2012 OSD
    • Use SCCM 2012 to forecast future trends and needs to determine what technologies to use
    • Interact and work with stakeholders to identify technology solutions for process improvements
    • Maintain proper release schedules and communications relating to patching efforts
    • Provide compliance reporting for all required security patches across the enterprise and remediate as required
    • Provide executive support
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers
    • Maintain 24x7 availability for any critical issues requiring escalation

     

    Qualifications

    Desired Skills

    • Understanding of Cisco IP Telephony
    • Demonstrated understanding of Active Directory and related technologies (Group Policy, DFS, replication, and topology)
    • Superior analytical and problem solving abilities
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio for network diagramming and documentation
    • Experience with Citrix VDI deployments and support
    • Familiarity with scripting technologies such as VB and/or PowerShell is preferred. Familiarity with creation of custom SQL queries is also preferred
    • Ability to work on multiple projects/requests concurrently
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and part of a team

    Required Education/Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
    • Minimum of 3 years’ of experience with software packaging/deployment, OSD, security patching and hardware/software reporting on the Microsoft SCCM 2012 platform 
    • Advanced knowledge and expertise with the Windows Operating System and Office 365
    • Working knowledge of McAfee Antivirus Software (McAfee DLP, McAfee EPO, McAfee encryption)
