    Summary/Description: This position entails interacting with Underwriters and other internal and external customers on an as needed basis regarding data requests and verification of data presented by the agent. The Lenders Accountant is responsible for recording journal entries and reconciling all settlement activity relating to the agents business.  This position will assist in the financial reporting of the Lender’s book of business, including Profit and Loss activity and Balance Sheet reconciliations.  The accountant is responsible for the day to day recording of cash receipts by product and by agent, and handle other reporting as relates to our cash disbursements.  This person will be expected to learn the processes and produce timely and accurate financial reporting for all activities assigned.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    Duties and responsibilities include:

     

    • Interact with the units Underwriters and Operations staff to verify production and settlement activity
    • Prepare monthly journal entries as director by management
    • Update premium receivables for all the Lender’s products and agents
    • Process cash received and apply them to the open premium receivable balances
    • Follow up with Lenders Underwriting and Operations regarding status of open balances
    • Prepare monthly reconciliation of sub-ledgers to general ledger.
    • Correspond with Operations and management on discrepancies regarding premiums, cash payments, commission differences etc.
    • Assist in the preparation of manual adjustments for Quarter Closing process
    • Assist in the preparation of Lenders Quarterly P&Ls
    • Handle all special projects as assigned by management

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION & SKILLS:

    • Degree in Accounting/Finance
    • 1 to 3 years’ experience working in Accounting/Finance with emphasis in the insurance/reinsurance industry.
    • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and analysis.
    • Has strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.
    • The ability to adapt to new circumstances, information, and challenges, with a positive attitude.
