    Responsibilities

    The Position

    The Senior Storage Engineer is responsible for the administration and operation of the firm’s Storage Infrastructure. This role requires an in depth knowledge of commercial Storage arrays for block and file such as NetAPP, EMC and IBM. They must be a self-starter, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate experience managing projects to completion. The Senior Storage Engineer will be part of the Build Systems Services Group and work very closely with the Director of Compute and Systems and Senior Systems Engineers in the Arch Technology Services (ATS) Group.

     

    Job Responsibilities

    • Engineer and provide SR escalation support for x86 Architecture, Iseries and AIX
    • Establish processes and procedures to ensure managed environments maintain the highest levels of availability, security, and quality
    • Give guidance on topics broadly related to information security risk and compliance
    • Follow all set procedures and policies pertaining to the Change Management System
    • Develop capacity forecasts for managed environments that are proactive and prevent problems prior to outages
    • Manage "crisis situations" to a satisfactory conclusion
    • Provide troubleshooting guidance and direction in resolution of escalated issues and/or complex production, application or system problems
    • Maintain schedule flexibility to deal with escalations and occasional changes during non-core business hours

    • Effectively communicate business and technical information to audiences with varying backgrounds, throughout all organizational levels, and to offshore and technical development teams
    • Willingness to share knowledge and resources and educate others within a global team
    • Strong skills in prioritization and reprioritization
    • Ability to adapt to an extremely dynamic environment comprising of high degree of complexities and priorities
    • Familiarity with security issues surrounding network computing and the implementation of security systems and controls
    • Knowledge of Kerberos, LDAP, Active Directory, and ADFS, DNS, DHCP, DFS,DHFS, NTFS permissions
    • Understanding of Backup Platforms and how these interact with Storage platforms
    • Demonstrated zoning skills on Cisco MDS and Brocade platforms and knowledge of zoning practices including ISLs, Zone Merges, and Smart Zones
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong listening and presentation skills

    Required Education/Experience

    • Technical degree, certifications, or equivalent work experience required
    • 3 to 5 years’ of relevant, practical experience managing/troubleshooting file and block performance issues
    • 5 years’ experience supporting a production enterprise environment and advanced level x86 Architecture
    • 2 years’ of Enterprise Disaster Recovery implementation for x86 Environments (SRM, Zerto, RPA) and experience working for an Enterprise organization with Enterprise methodologies
    • Significant experience with Windows, Linux, IBM I, and AIX operating system scripting, troubleshooting, and security administration
    • Expert understanding of the maintenance and administration of VMware Virtualized Systems
    • Strong knowledge of NetApp, Isilon, and IBM Storewise platforms and EMC arrays such as VNX,VMAX, XtremIO. ECS knowledge, preferred
    • Proficiency in Capacity and Performance reporting, PKI, and Certificate Management
