  • The Position

    The National Accounts Casualty (NAC) Underwriting Assistant Role is responsible for completing a variety of tasks necessary to the successful issuance and maintenance of National Account programs.

     

    This is a support position developed to relieve the NAC Underwriter of tasks not requiring underwriting judgment enabling the Underwriter to utilize their underwriting expertise in a more efficient manner. 

     

    Job Responsibilities

    Gather and Organize the information to prepare the account file for underwriter review and direction (new business and renewal) -

    • Reserve/clear account in Archlink
    • Review Submission for completeness
    • Obtain missing underwriting information
    • Perform manual rating function
    • Research and provide any forms to UW for their review
    • Enter data in Arch Link NAC pricing model
    • Provide needed information to Other Arch Resources
    • Receive needed input from other Arch Resources
    • Coordinate issuance and receipt of UM & TRIA selection/rejection forms prior to binding
    • Complete the Radar Checklist

     

    Gather and Organize the information needed to prepare the account file for policy issuance (new business and renewal) -

    • If not bound, update ArchLink status to quote not taken and initiate any necessary cancellation of in force filings (renewals).
    • If bound, request policy numbers and update ArchLink status to bound
    • Assemble post order bind information for policy issuance
    • Main contact with Operations for policy issuance
    • Coordinate distribution and receipt of signatory documents to include NOE’s, Risk Control Declination letters, signatory endorsements
    • Coordinate receipt and review of reinsurance binder and certificate documents for underwriter review and sign off.
    • Forward information as necessary to other Arch resources – risk control, claims, corporate underwriting, finance
    • Document UW file for regulatory compliance issues – NOE’s, schedule rating worksheets, a rating worksheets, E Mod worksheets. FL Acord Form if applicable
    • Complete the Radar checklist
    • Assemble and manage the electronic UW file

     

    Provide support to the UW team by efficiently and effectively managing and servicing the account -

    • Research and assist in resolving telephone & written inquiries generated from both internal and external sources
    • Coordinate information flow to Arch Advantage & Operations as needed
    • Review any mid-term change requests with UW and AM for implementation
    • Respond to mid-term bureau correspondence and e mod changes
    • Provide needed information to premium audit and operations to facilitate the audit and adjustment process
    • Ensure all underwriting file documentation is complete and filed in the appropriate place
    • Provide loss and other miscellaneous information to both internal and external customers as requested.
    • Participate in midterm account stewardship & pre renewal strategy meetings

    Desired Skills/Experience

    • Knowledge of Commercial Lines coverages and rating (WC,GL,Auto)
    • Knowledge of policy structure, policy forms and endorsements
    • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance issues
    • Knowledge of Loss Sensitive Primary Casualty Account Programs
    • Knowledge of insurance accounting and reinsurance terminology
    • PC literate and knowledge of automated systems
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
    • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Proficient in Microsoft products (Office, Word, Excel) and ability to quickly master proprietary and vended software applications
    • Three to five years of underwriting assistance experience.

     

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training preferred.
