The Position

Based in either our Jersey City, New Jersey office or our New York, New York office, The Specialist, Employee Communications will be a remote member of Arch's Global Communications and Branding Team, which is based primarily out of Greensboro, North Carolina. The employee will focus on consulting with business units to plan and execute internal communications for Arch Insurance, a rapidly growing global insurance company with U.S. headquarters in Jersey City, New Jersey.


The ideal candidate will be able to develop and execute employee communications plans, consult with a wide variety of stakeholders on communications best practices and write engaging copy for a wide range of media — including intranet articles, presentations and all-employee messages — designed to help employees understand and execute business objectives, cultivate and celebrate employee engagement, and reinforce the company’s culture.

Job Responsibilities

  • Consult with business unit leaders on employee communication needs, providing guidance on communications best practices, corporate brand standards and integrated communications planning
  • Must be autonomous and comfortable working independently with the rest of the communications team based in Greensboro, North Carolina

  • Develop, maintain, and execute an annual communications plan for Arch Insurance

  • Report, write, edit, and finalize employee communications for distribution across multiple channels including the company’s global intranet, email, newsletters, videos, blogs and print materials
  • With departmental direction and support, work with Arch Insurance executives on C-suite level communications planning and execution
  • Serve as a liaison between the Branding and Employee Communications group’s creative team (graphic design, multimedia services, etc.) and company business units
  • Coordinate corporate town halls and other corporate event planning as necessary
  • Assist in developing and maintaining employee communications “best practice” processes, guidelines, execution, and documentation

Required Skills/Experience

  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in a similar position providing autonomous organizational support to a team required (corporate communications experience is preferred)
  • Excellent writing, editing and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to source and create engaging content that can be used across a number of communication channels.
  • Demonstrated editorial judgement
  • Creative thinker who can contribute and function well whether working independently or in a collaborative team setting
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with content management systems (WordPress or SharePoint experience a plus)
  • Detail-orientated with consistent and accurate follow-through on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to measure and analyze the effectiveness of a communication strategy using analytics and other metrics
  • Fluent in AP Style


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field preferred
