The Position

The User Interface Designer is responsible for creating and designing web elements that optimize user interaction and experience.  The incumbent makes decisions collaboratively working with product managers and developers. She/he is experienced with working across interaction, UI, and visual design who can work as part of an integrated Product, Design, Development and Research team.


Job Responsibilities



  1. Maintain a user-centered approach in design perspective and practice
  2. Work as a collaborative team member with developers, PMs and fellow designers
  3. Lead products from discovery and framework through iterative development and delivery
  4. Help product managers assess and prioritize opportunities and constraints
  5. Guide product decisions through user research, customer development, and iterative feedback loops
  6. Determine best practice approaches and lead others through our process
  7. Rapidly iterate on design prototypes and working applications
  8. Conduct frequent user research, testing, and analysis
  9. Product user flows, wireframes, mockups, live style guides, and assets.
  10. Collaborate with other designers to maintain design consistency and coherence across the product space as appropriate

Required Skills/Experience


Knowledge & Skills:

  1. Passion for identifying and solving real user problems
  2. An ability to tell compelling stories about your designs and present your work with confidence
  3. Solid intuition and strong passion for detailed interaction design
  4. Comfort in a fast-paced, highly-dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders
  5. Proficient in Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, or other design tools
  6. The ability to bring your designs to life (JavaScript, CSS, HTML)
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build good working relationships
  8. Experience with Responsive Design utilizing Bootstrap and SaSS (OPTIONAL)
  9. Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research (OPTIONAL)
  10. A portfolio of design projects that show outstanding product design skills (OPTIONAL)


Education & Experience:


Required knowledge & skills would typically be acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, CS or a related field or equivalent practical experience. 3-5 years experience in product development teams working on user experience/interaction design.
